Kenya has always been the same sheer variety of landscape, wildlife, human cultures and experience. For over a hundred years Kenya has attracted adventurers and romantics from all over the globe. This magical land has been the setting of some of history’s greatest adventure stories. This is the home of Out of Africa, a place where setting out on an adventure into the wilderness became an age-old tradition. The spirit of the Safari lives on today. The romance of sundown drinks and of evenings around a campfire with the distant roar of a lion in the African night is found in Kenya.

Every year from Mid-June through October more than 1.5 million the wildebeest and more than 200,000 zebras and Gazelles migrate from the Great Plains of the Serengeti and into the rolling savannahs of Masai Mara in Kenya. They are relentlessly pursued by the Africa great predators, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas; this is the best time to be in Kenya and by far the best time to see the river crossings. Everyone should have the opportunity once in their lifetime to stand on the great savannah of Masai Mara to witness one of the last wildlife spectacles on planet earth. This natural phenomenon draws the attention of predators and it is quite simply a wildlife enthusiasts and photographer’s paradise. Mix this safari with luxury accommodations of authentic Africa of days gone by, and you will not only have hundreds of great images but also an experience of a lifetime.

Check – out and depart to Nanyuki.

Lunch at the Fairmont Mt. Kenya Safari Club.

Mt. Kenya Safari Club is set in over 100 acres of landscaped gardens and offers magnificent views of majestic Mount Kenya, a unique blend of comfort, relaxation, and adventure.

In 1959, American star actor William Holden alongside his friends, Ray Ryan and Swiss financier Carl Hirschmann, founded the beloved Nanyuki resort, Mount Kenya Safari Club.

The trio was in Kenya for a tour and other conservation activities before acquiring the property from hotelier Abraham Block and renaming it as it was previously known as Mawingo (Mawingu).

It blossomed over the years with each new addition – luxurious cottages with sunken baths, a golf course, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a sauna, and side-by-side to William Holden’s favorite project.

Holden was a recognised actor whose career spanned 40 years with 80 films and an Oscar award. After the actor's death, the hotel was bought by Saudi billionaire businessman Adnan Khashoggi and a friend of the late former Kenya`s President

Daniel Moi.

However, Khashoggi fell into financial difficulties. The billionaire was forced to sell some of his property and in 2007, Mt Kenya Safari Club was acquired by the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts group.

Billionaire businessman Humphrey Kariuki runs the Fairmont Hotels and Resort group. He also founded Janus Continental Group, employing at least 700 people.

Extra activities include horseback riding, fishing, game drives, croquet, golfing, nature walks and visit to the animal orphanage.

Spanning approximately 1,510 square kilometers, the Maasai Mara offers visitors an unforgettable opportunity to witness the beauty of nature at its finest.

Established in 1961, the Maasai Mara National Reserve forms a part of the greater Mara ecosystem, which also includes the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The area experiences two rainy seasons: the long rains from March to May and the short rains from November to December.

DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT SAROVA MARA TENTED CAMP

Breakfast at the Camp.

Check – out and depart for Nairobi.

Lunch at the Giraffe Manor.

Giraffe Manor is an unforgettable boutique hotel in Nairobi with a resident herd of wild Nubian/Rothschild’s giraffes who may visit morning and evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary. The Nubian/Rothschild’s species of giraffe was once highly endangered but the Giraffe Manor has had a breeding programme which has successfully grown their numbers in the wild.

It is not just a hotel with giraffes, it blends extraordinary wildlife encounters with exquisite hospitality and a long-term commitment to giraffe conservation. The historic manor house is set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi and is one of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings. It has extraordinary appeal that harks back to the 1930s when visitors first flocked to East Africa to enjoy safaris. With its stately façade, elegant interior, verdant green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful courtyards, guests often remark that it’s like walking into the film Out of Africa: indeed, one of its twelve rooms is named after the author, Karen Blixen.

Dinner at the Carnivore restaurant.

A BEAST OF A FEAST, SINCE 1980

Leg of lamb, pork, ostrich, rump of beef, sirloin, rack of lamb, spare ribs, sausages, skewered kidneys, even crocodile.

Meats are roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a huge charcoal pit that dominates the restaurant's entrance. The rough-hewn beams combine the rustic feel of a rural setting with that of a medieval banqueting hall.

The Carnivore doesn't conform to the familiar restaurant traditions. First, the soup of the day along with a plate of home-baked brown bread and butter are served. Then, an army of carvers moves table to table, swords laden carving juicy cuts onto sizzling cast-iron plates. Accompanying the meat feast is a selection of salads, vegetable side dishes, and sauces

The feeding frenzy doesn't stop until you declare defeat by lowering the white paper flag perched atop the central tray. This is then followed by dessert and coffee. The full meal including the soup course is at a set price. A vegetarian menu is also offered.
